Yesterday, U.S. News and World Report released its Best College guidebook ranking UC San Diego as the 8th best public university and 38th best university in the nation. Rankings are based on academic reputation, graduation percentages, retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity , financial resources and alumni donations. UCSD has been ranked on the top 10 list for more than 10 years. Four other California Universities made the top 10 public university list: 1. University of California - Berkeley 2. University of California - Los Angeles 2. University of Virginia 4. University of Michigan - Ann Arbor 5.University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill 6.
