The annual MCAS Miramar Air Show flies into town this weekend and promises to be bigger and better than ever! (Last year's air show was cancelled due to the government shutdown.) The star of the air show is always the Blue Angels (the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron). They will be performing at 2:45pm daily and also at 5:30pm on Saturday evening. However, there are plenty of other exciting civilian and military performances and displays to enjoy including helicopters, jet cars, jet trucks, parachute teams, an Osprey (the military's helicopter-like aircraft), and tons of airplanes. Other highlights include daily fireworks, interactive booths, a kids' zone, food and live music. Festivities take place 9AM - 4:30PM Friday through Sunday and there is a twilight show from 5:30-9PM on Saturday. Admission and parking are free but there are all kinds of packages you can buy for prime seating and preferred parking. The parking lots fill up so get there early if you can. For more information, visit miramarairshow.com and don't forget to thank your military service members while you're there enjoying!
