Amtrak Adds Surfliner Stop in Encinitas

 

This just in: Amtrak officials are now finalizing plans to add a stop in Encinitas to their Pacific Surfliner schedule. Currently the train bypasses the Encinitas 'Coaster' station on Vulcan Ave and D Street, with Northern and Southern stops in Oceanside and Solana Beach. A preliminary schedule had slated three daily stops for northbound and southbound trains in Encinitas, but negotiations are still underway as to when the new service/stop will begin, and which trains will be involved. However, an Amtrak spokesperson did say 'it will be coming soon.' Additional stops that are expected to be added to the schedule include Carlsbad Village, Carlsbad Poinsettia and Sorrento Valley – all of which are current Coaster stops as well.
